Passport Seva Police Clearance Certificate, or PCC, is relevant to specified overseas purposes such as employment, immigration, long-term visa or residential status. An official Passport Office guide states that this PCC is not issued for tourist-visa travel.

Before applying in Mumbai, ask the requesting employer, immigration adviser or authority which certificate it accepts. Passport PCC is not automatically interchangeable with Maharashtra police character verification or a domestic employment check.

Prepare for your actual destination
