Aadhaar Email Update: App Fee Waiver to December 2026

What is covered?

UIDAI’s official announcements page lists a waiver of charges for updating an email address through the Aadhaar mobile application until 31 December 2026. The announcement concerns that specific app-based feature. It does not establish that all centre-based corrections, mobile-number changes or demographic updates are free.

A working email can help you manage document communications. Changing it in one record does not automatically change your bank, PAN, passport or voter details. Make a separate list of accounts that also need attention.

Start with the genuine application

Follow the app links from UIDAI’s official website and check the publisher before installing. Do not trust an unsolicited message claiming that paying a stranger is necessary to keep Aadhaar active. Follow the current registration and authentication instructions within the official application.

If the feature is unavailable or verification fails, use the official support guidance. A fee-waiver announcement is not evidence that every device and account has an identical screen, and it is not permission to bypass identity checks.

Preparation checklist

• Your own Aadhaar record.
• An email address you control and can access.
• A compatible phone and internet connection for the official app.
• Access to the authentication method requested by the legitimate application.

Check spelling, dots and numbers carefully. Do not register a shop worker’s email instead of your own. If someone assists you, keep control of the device and verification steps.

Confirm the result

Save any acknowledgement displayed and check the result using the official app or UIDAI’s instructions. A button click alone does not prove the record has changed. Record an error message before seeking help instead of repeatedly submitting an uncertain request.

The waiver concerns the government service charge for the stated feature. Optional device help or private assistance may be charged separately. Ask for a quote first and recheck the official notice if applying after the stated period.
