What has UIDAI extended?

UIDAI’s current fee information confirms that proof-of-identity and proof-of-address document updates through myAadhaar remain free until 14 June 2027. Its announcements page lists the extension in May 2026. This is a waiver for one specific online service, not every Aadhaar correction. Older messages quoting an earlier deadline should be checked against the official notice.

Document update or address correction?

Document update refreshes the supporting identity and address documents associated with your existing details. It is not the same as changing an incorrect name, date of birth or address. If you have moved from Govandi to another Mumbai address, first establish whether you need an address-change request instead. Uploading proof for old particulars is not a substitute for correcting them.

Prepare your documents

Your Aadhaar record and access to the registered mobile for portal authentication.
A currently accepted proof of identity.
A currently accepted proof of address supporting the relevant particulars.
Readable files in the size and format shown by the portal.

Check UIDAI’s accepted-document list before scanning. Keep names, dates and complete address lines visible. Do not edit an official document to make it match another record.

Submit and track safely

Open myAadhaar directly, choose Document Update and follow the live instructions. Review both attachments before confirmation and save the acknowledgement. Use the reference to track the same request rather than filing duplicates. If your details need a different correction, review that service’s requirements separately.

The government’s online waiver does not make optional scanning or private form-filling free. Ask for a clear quote, or use the official self-service route yourself. Aadhaar does not simply expire after ten years, and this update does not require a new Aadhaar number.
