Aadhaar DOB Correction: September 2026 SOP Changes

Reviewed on 22 October 2026; corrigendum listed on 28 September 2026.
What changed in the official document?
UIDAI’s official memorandum index lists a corrigendum to the annexures of its date-of-birth update Standard Operating Procedure on 28 September 2026. The document refers to the DOB SOP dated 24 December 2025 and explains that annexures are being amended to remove the requirement to furnish details of previously submitted documents.
This is a specific change to declarations, not an announcement that everyone can change their DOB repeatedly or without proof. The revised wording still concerns acceptable evidence supporting the requested birth date.
Normal correction versus an exception
UIDAI’s 14 October 2019 circular states that the normal DOB update limit is once in a lifetime, with exception handling applicable in relevant cases. An applicant who has already used that opportunity should not assume a revised annexure resets the history.
First identify whether the problem is the recorded birth date, the evidence used, or a rejection after a previous update. Each situation needs the actual acknowledgement and the current official instructions.
Documents to organise
- Your Aadhaar record and the birth date currently recorded.
- Accepted proof of date of birth supporting the requested date.
- Previous update acknowledgements and rejection details, where available.
- The current annexure or declaration relevant to an adult or child case.
Check the latest SOP before preparing an affidavit. Do not use an old downloaded template merely because it was accepted for another applicant.
Avoid common mistakes
An affidavit alone does not create a right to correction. Gazette publication is not a universal substitute for accepted birth evidence, and a private business cannot approve an exception. Do not alter a birth certificate or school record to force agreement with another document.
Retain copies of what you submit and the reference number. If rejected, address the specific reason through UIDAI’s official process rather than paying for repeated identical requests.
