Shop Act License (Gumasta) in Mumbai 2026 — Documents, Fees & Renewal
Gumasta — officially the Maharashtra Shop & Establishment Registration — is the first license most Mumbai shops, offices and freelancers need. It is also required to open a current account.
**Who needs it** Any commercial establishment in Maharashtra with even 1 employee, or a sole proprietor running a registered business.
**Documents** - PAN of proprietor - Aadhaar - Photo - Address proof of shop (electricity bill + rent agreement / NOC from owner) - Authority letter
**Fees (2026)** - 0 employees: ₹0–₹500 - 1–9 employees: around ₹2,000 - 10+ employees: scales up
**Validity** 10 years. Then renewal.
**Timeline** 2–7 working days online via the Aaple Sarkar portal.
**Common mistakes** - Choosing wrong nature of business (cannot be edited later without fresh application) - Owner name mismatch with PAN - Uploading low-resolution shop photo
We handle Gumasta for shops across Govandi, Mankhurd, Chembur and Kurla — including draft NOC for landlord-owned shops.
